Profile

About Me:
I am married, have 3 beautiful daughters...5 georgeous and energetic grandchildren....4 boys and 1 girl, er.....princess. I am in a good mood almost always, have a good sense of humor, try to be very encouraging to those around me, but am old enough that I don't put up with crap. I love to read detective mysteries....not much of a tv person (NCIS and British comedies some favs) and I love to listen to music almost constantly...,.classical, rock, country, gospel, jazz, blues, etc..........
Where I'm from:
I was born in Tulsa, Ok and live 15 miles west of there.....have been within 14-20 miles of my birthplace all my life....well, one stint in west Texas at a very early age. My hubby and I attended a two-room school in our neighborhood until 8th grade......interesting...")....then we went on to highschool in Sand Springs and graduated from there......
About my Art:
I have always had my hands on paper, glue and scissors. I started rubberstamping about 12 yrs ago......I made cards for years and sold them at a local gift shop, was a designer for an online rubber stamp store.... I then did ATC swaps for several years and, then, through one of the local clubs I belonged to I met a young lady who made the most marvelous books.........I was hooked and a short time later found BookArtz online. I really like collage and altered pages, but also enjoy creating journals, albums, mini-books, etc. Just had my intro to coptic stitch a few months ago. Makes a very nice book, but very time consuming. ") My time at BookArtz has brought about a great growing spurt for me in my art. I love exchanging art, techniques, and tips with the other artists.
I'm hoping to scrapbook several baskets full of pictures for my family before I die.................just can't put down all these wonderful projects that keep coming out of our group long enough to get any albums started! I have made individual mini-albums for my 4 older gkids. I'm getting ready to do a collage on a canvas for a friend of mine to put in her beauty shop.......also have some friends that want me to do that for their homes......my desire is to keep expanding my horizons with new experiences in art. When I make a piece of art for someone, my wish is for them to discover their own inner creativity.
My Favorite Website: (Boast about yours!)
http://www.stampdiva.com
Another Website Favorite: (Yours- a blog?)
http://www.Flickr.com
Another? (yours again.....flickr?)
http://www.bookmooch.com
Where am I going?
I will be happy creating art for friends and family the rest of my life...........publications or no publications.
I hope to learn even more from my friends here and in my local club to improve my art techniques and work.

Lightening Strike

I am at my daughter's home using her computer to update the group on my current situation. We were hit by lightening last Monday night. We lost our phone, computer, TV, electric igniter on our cook stove..................haven't found anything else yet!!! We won't have a technician at our house until next Wed. They are so overwhelmed with calls because of so many strikes. I can't even tell you how many times our towers have been down and we have been without electricity. The past 3 days have bee… Continue

Blank Journals

I'm probably the last person in this group to be doing so (LOL!), but I have started some blank journals this past week. I'm keeping one for myself and going to send one to Bookmooch Journals to become a traveling journal........well, at least I hope they'll accept it and it can be mooched. ") I am so hooked on this site! But, I have lots of books to be mooched! I have around 1000 books left over from our homeschooling days. Trouble is I can't even get to half of them right now. Our "library" st… Continue

Experimenting with paints/paper today..............

I did the first steps of Judy Scott's Rust Technique on some cardstock yesterday. Let it dry overnight...............then added inks today............not to get the rust effect, but to do my Mary Cassatt pages. Trying to make one side look like impressionistic watercolors and the other with this technique.....................everything drying........gotta get them put together, add embellishments and send off to Kris. I've been glazing some text to some watercolor paper scraps...........not sur… Continue

Stampers' Sampler

I keep forgetting to post about this one. SS does a Catch Up issue from all the cards they wanted to publish but ran out room. I ended up with 5 cards in this issue. (Vol 12) I actually got this issue on my birthday. ")

RubberStampMadness

Received an email from Galilee Weldon at RubberSTampMadness yesterday that one of my cards that I submitted for their Fairies and Elves call was going to be used as a teaser in the RSM 160 issue in the Looking Forward section about the upcoming issue (July/Aug) and that it would be in the centerfold section. I just uploaded a pic into the Photos of the card..... so glad she sent me a JPG of it, 'cause at that time I had no camera and no scanner......Man, I really hate to send cards off without u… Continue

Hi Sharon,
I am so excited to be apart of this blog, as it keeps expanding. My husband joined to see my work. I was picking on him, since he blogs about books he reads, his friends would be agast at what we do to books ;0!
I will hopefully give a detail profile of myself as time allows. At least I got up pic's from the first altered 8 RR we (kellie, jen and I) did. I can fill in the word stuff later;)

Hi Sharon,
Thank you for the nice comments on my books. To answer your questions: a) the mini books: the lettering is mine; I used exercises from my calligraphy class to create the books.
b) the pages of the larger book/journal are all done by me: painting, drawing, collage etc.
I just loooove books!
best, Annie

ANOTHER WEDDING???!!!! Yep, daughter #2 is getting married again....I'm up to my elbows in wedding invitations. If I had a computer, I would post a picture for you. Friends of theirs and ours just bought a Victorian mansion in a nearby town and will be through with the major renovations in time for the wedding.......well, all except the third-floor ballroom floor! Miss you guys...............the groom is my computer guy and hasn't had time to go through my computer yet. He has looked at it and says it doesn't bode well. Hubby trying to get everything together for retirement........ no help from the company,.......talk about unorganized! He's just a little put out! Missing you guys :(

Oh what fun, a wardrobe full of paper confections. I wish I could see them, but you can see Pat's theatre, as well as the others as they are now posted on my web site under Theatre des Modes. There are 22 in all, and they are simply amazing.

Thank you for your comment, Sharon. I was actually thinking of using the blog feature here for talking about digital painting, and how I do it - and about using PSP. Lots of people use it, but it isn't as well covered as Photoshop and the others for the artist.

Thank you, Sharon, for the nice welcome.

Photography is my first love, has been for many years. I feel that the digital age in both photography and painting has opened up a whole new universe of possibilities for the creative mind.

By the way, I hate to disappoint you but my picture is of cactus blossoms, not poppies. I do love poppies however. We just don't see them here in the Desert Southwest.

Well.... Those National Geographics had a really great use for me. The map of the Basins was a pull out from one of those national Geographics! It was wall size! Woooo Hooo! I love it!

no due date. It's just for you. I started mine from a prayer book I found at school(I work in a Catholic School). My shrine isn't really a shrine. It's more like a journal, but not really. It's weird. When I get more finished with it I will upload some progress pictures..... So far so good. I am proctoring a final exam right now. The lat day with the kids is TODAY! YAAAAAY! I need summer! It's supposed to be in the 90's for the remainder of the week. UGH!
