Profile Information

About Me:
I am a mixed media artist working primarily in the realm of book arts. I am married to a loving supportive man and we live in a home 1/2 an hour outside of NY city with 1 dog, 2 cats and 2 fish! I am first an artist, who also enjoys vegan cooking, gardening, cactus growing, nature loving, and being with good friends.
Where I'm from:
Born in Bridgeport, CT, raised mainly in Cleveland, OH, lived in North Carolina and Arizona before happily settling here in NY.
About my Art:
My back ground is in sculpture, and due to some health issues, I had to scale back how I worked as an artist and then discovered the book form. I think of the book arts as interactive sculptures - interesting to look at as forms standing on their own, but longing to be experienced more fully, by opening and paging through each layer of the piece. For me, the book is the most powerful expressive art form I have worked in, creating an intimate journey that allows for close interaction with the viewer and art. Each page has the potential to deliver another level of expression on a particular topic, through images, words, and textures.

Cool! No, not currently. I was part of a show at Columbus College of Art & Design at the end of the summer though. Where does she live in Columbus? Downtown? Is she an art chick? I work in Columbus, but live in the burbs. The world is soooooo small.

Wow! Karin, that's intense! It's beautifully and disturbingly put together. Great work. It really makes one think. Everyone should see that book and by doing so become more aware.

Thank you, Karen. Yes, it was empowering. And I think commentary on suh issues is important, if not critical, because many people are not aware of the longterm impact it can have on a life. I would love to see your sculptures!

I have to agree with you on the political issues. This is indeed a scary and momentous time. I hope to country votes for hope and peace.
