And if so, what do you listen to? For me, it depends on my mood & what I'm doing. Some days it's INXS & U2, others it's some old country and still others it's Aretha Franklin's greatest hits. Depends on my mood & what I'm doing. Painting- I can do with faster music, while some wire wrapping....needs to be classical piano. I know, weird huh?

So....what about you?

I love music of almost any kind.......I listen to something the majority of the time. It depends of my mood, too.......I'm a child of the sixties, and therefore, love listening to some of that music quite a bit....Simon&Garfunkel, Mamas&Papas............but there's something from every decade that I really like......my girls are used to me playing anything from ZZTop to classical.....and of course, from the
end of Oct until end of Dec, I'm playing Christmas music. When I'm trying to come with an idea for a project, I may load several different types to get my mind movin'...........and to get my body movin'
I really, really love Salsa. (not a pretty sight, but very aerobic!)

LOL, Sharon! I love bopping to whatever is on. Isn't it a shame that typing on a keyboard isn't aerobic? Man, would I be in shape or what?!?!??? Instead of the opposite.

I'd like to but I rarely do. This used to be the Sports Fan's house alone before I moved in and things just evolved, like the front bedroom just evolved into my studio space. So we never set up music in there and in fact my audio equipment is mostly packed up in my storage space where we have all of my stuff (including the looms, furniture, and 150 boxes of books I miss every day) that we didn't have room for here. I get to listen to tunes when the Sports Fan comes home and plays music instead of watching tv while he works on stuff. I've thought about setting up all my AV stuff in that room but he swiped my receiver when one of his died and I've just never bought another.

Anyhow, the comment I really wanted to make is that I find it really annoying and an actual intrusion to have to listen to other people's music. I used to go to weaving workshops and a few people would want to listen to music and I'd just tell them that unless I got to pick some of the music, I was leaving and insisting on getting my money back for the cost of the workshop because it isn't fair to make someone listen to someone else's selections. They just didn't get how much of an intrusion it was if you didn't like the music that was playing. I like Pachebel's Canon sometimes. (I cannot stand country music at all.) Classical just isn't what I want to hear when I'm working on a project or driving down the road. It took a bold statement to get them to stop. It's funny how people perceive music. Some people don't see it as a personal choice at all. And classical music snobs don't see how their choice could possibly annoy anyone as much as others' music annoys them!

I like a lot of music, but I prefer rock n roll, 80s stuff, the Beatles and all the 60s stuff I grew up with, and metal. Lots of stuff from Gene Pitney to Metallica! So if I did have a way to play music in there, that's what it would be mostly.

Oh, Marilyn..............how sad not to get to listen to your music everyday............I do love some peace and quite, too, so sometimes I have absolutely nothing on. (well, noise, anyway!)

MUSIC IS ESSENTIAL! I listen to alternative music or 80's!!!! My boyfriend has music on his computer that is on the other side of my studio....so he just hits play for me...cranks it up and leaves. LOL

And if for some reason we're not listening to the same music, or it's late at night- there's always the ipods/ mp3 players. Then we're each listening to what we want to hear.

Wow Marilyn- that's sad.

How funny that you two think it's sad that I don't have tunes in the art room. It doesn't bother me. I really do enjoy silence and solitude.

We listen to music a lot in other places, so it isn't like I do without totally. And probably at least one night a week, we listen to music. A lot of times when we watch TV, it's something about music anyway. He's always my favorite DJ and really good at knowing what I'd like to listen to. Anyway, it's not sad to me.

Actually....that's not the part that I found sad.

Marilyn, the part I found sad was that you still have "stuff" packed up that you miss. ")

Ok... I have to hop in on this discussion even though I'm sooooo freakin' busy and should be soldering about 10 pieces for a craft fair on Wednesday! I listen to the Beatles lately... my daughter even is starting to recognize the Beatles on the radio in the car. Unlike Sharon I am not a child of the 60's unless you count the fall and winter of 1969! ;) But I'm so inspired by their words... and those of John Lennon. When I'm not listening to music though I tend to listen to the New Earth CD's - Eckart Tolle's words just resonate with my trip right now and I'm deeply touched by what he has to say. And when I'm feeling silly and not so DEEP! LOL I love to listen to Dave Mathews Band - Dave rocks my world... their lyrics are something else, also!

it really depends upon my mood in general...sometimes, i simply find music annoying to what i'm doing. sometimes, it has to be metal. sometimes, alternative...celtic...chris issak...tori amos...old rock n roll...classical...reggae...kt tunstall. you get it.

sometimes, i tune in to pandora and set up my own station. http://www.pandora.com/

sometimes, i tune in to radio paradise if i'm looking to find some new music or remember some oldies. http://www.radioparadise.com/

sometimes, i just tune into radiosandisbrain...therre's usually something playing there too. of course, there are mornings when i wake up to disco tunes...

Oh Yeah- I love Pandora, because I create stations to fit my mood! Well I say I love it but really I had forgotten about it for the last couple of months, so thanks for the reminder.
