I've been working on this book for the last few weeks:

Inside this book are 24 letters written over a period from September 1881 to December 1883 to a Miss Nancy A Austin in Yorkville from a gentleman named W M Moody. In these letters W writes of his love for Nancy and of how he wish…

Here are some cool things you can do with PSP. The image below is a tube, created from a photo of Stonehenge. I erased most of the background so I was left with a couple of powerful looking structures. Look closely, and you can see I used the Smudge tool to create a `face' on the block on the left.

Lately I have been obsessed with my art journal. I have wanted to work in an art journal for a while now but never could seem to get started. Then a great artist by the name of Sarah Whitmire posted a challenge on her blog that I happened upon. This challenge is really a daily prompt to create a spread in a journal. So far there isn't a LOT of journaling but I am guessing we will get to that eventually.
This has been a real blast and if any of you have been thinking of doing an art journal this…

The idea for this digital collage came from the quote - I read it in a novel and it stayed with me. To illustrate what the quote meant to me I wanted to create a chessboard world, and I saw it floating on a bed of clouds. That was fairly easy - I had an image in my stock folder that wo…

So it seems I have an airline ticket I need to use and it occurred to me it might be a good opportunity to take a class or attend a workshop. I've just found the info for Art Unraveled and I'm not far enough into it yet to know if it's too late or not. Are there other classes or workshops you know of that I might consider? I'd like to do something before the end of the year.
Thanks!

There have been many versions of PSP, and finding tutorials can be a complicated task. I use PSP 9 these days, but I think started with Version 5. PSP 10 (or PSP X) is available now, and there are some tutorials becoming available.
You won't find much of use on the Corel website. Paint Shop Pro was intended by Corel to be a photo editing program, not to compete Corel Draw or Corel painter. But any artist could have told them that a house paint brush or even a pastry brush can be wielded on canv…

Paint Shop Pro is usually regarded as the poor cousin (or poor rip off) of applications like Corel or Illustrator. But I have been using it since its first release (admittedly at hat time because it was easier to learn than Adobe and a bit more creative than MS Paint.) Still,I had discovered that even MS paint can be extraordinarily flexible (mainly through the experimentation of my son Chris) and so found PSP to have many unexplored possibilities. Since then, PSP has grown exponentially into a…

Amazing thing, time. Amazing how quickly things can change and also how, when you make a tough decision, a really tough one, how things just seem to then fall into place.
Push has come to shove in my life. I've known this was going to happen, I've tried very hard not to let it happen, but guess what? It happened. So, on Thursday, I had to make what I thought at the time, was a very hard and depressing decision...and that is, to sell my house. I spent the day on the "unhappy couch" under an afgh…

Okay, so I spend too much time looking at lolcats, but I'm still struggling with the issue of focus. I love the jewelry I've been knotting and have way more designs floating in my head and on paper than I can complete in a year or 7, but there's so much more I want to do.

...but yesterday was a really great day. Maybe I ought to knock on wood or something. We've finally had a break in the weather. Yesterday I had an okay day really. I continued with my knotting projects, completed 6 pieces (one for me), scanned them and started a 7th piece, also for me. Then last night, I was overwhelmed by a wave of unhappy out of nowhere; it literally made me shake my head. This was an odd experience.

It's little wonder that one of my first tattoos was the phoenix. My personal mythology is filled with firey deaths and rebirths. Careers, relationships, jobs, life's work...all subject to change. I'm doing it again and for once, it's not exciting. It's filled with anxiety, panic, uncertainty and makes me simply want to curl up on the couch and rock.
I'm bound to inaction and now, more than ever, I need to move, act, defy, create. Recreate me...who I am, what I do, how I move through my world.…

I am working on an altered book that is just for me. Other than an 'experimenting' book I haven't created an altered book that was just personal, just for me. I have made my first fan fold book and am posting pictures of it to my photos in just a few minutes. I went with a theme of cards/card games and included a different game for each page. Attached to the back of each page is a tag. When opened it reveals the rules for the chosen game. This will probably end up as a gift for my daughter (as she has already asked for it). I have to watch her though because she asks for every project and then no one else in the family gets any. It's good that she lik…

Well, later today I'll be mapping the domain over to here. I'm excited about that. What that means is that when one types in bookartz.com- it'll bring you here to the network.
